Ubeneye

[edit]

Ubeneye (U-beng-nde-ye) is a native name used by the Obudu (Bette) people. Obudu is a local government in the northern part of Cross River State in Nigeria. It shares a boundary with Benue State. Ubeneye has another variation 'Ubenaye', both pronounced the same way. Ubeneye is a shorter form of 'Undiubenmiye' or 'Undiubenaye" which means "No one should blame me, or No one should blame him". The first a first-person singular pronoun and the latter is a second-person singular pronoun. More information on the name will be added progressively. Thanks.
